More than 60% of the Abitibi8inni First Nation members live on the native reserve of Pikogan located at 3 kilometers north of Amos. The establishment at this place is relatively recent since the reserve was only created in 1958 by the Canadian Government.
The first houses were built in 1964. Algonquins from Temiscaming and also from the Nottaway and Harricana rivers moved in these houses. The original surface was 52 hectares. An expansion was made in 1979 giving a total of 90.53 hectares (0,9km 2).
